When my dad was dying, we joked that he should turn his ashes into diamonds (my mother did not pay attention to this and took the appropriately sober step of burying his ashes in his parent’s grave). But I found it interesting that cremain ashes could (and have) been turned into diamonds. If I have money to spare at the end, maybe I would do that…or so I thought. Then I read this post on 12 things to do with your cremains recently, and now I’m torn. It would be most appropriate to use my ashes to make special pencils. But I really prefer pens, myself. A wine glass would be appropriate, maybe a set for toasting my life. And the whole sands of the hourglass thing has appeal too.
I guess I should start saving for a splashy goodbye, because some of those choices are a little pricey, and who knows how much sand is left in my hourglass…
