I forget how attached at the hip/fingertips/eyes I am to the internet…until I don’t have it anymore. The hotel Wi-Fi in Ohio was so horrible that I wanted to cry because I couldn’t do anything in the 30 second very sllloooooowww bits and bytes it allowed.

Compared to my mother-in-law’s house, though, the hotel was cutting edge. My mother-in-law doesn’t own a computer (or a cell phone). Miraculously, she still has a full and busy life. Our visit here has been busy, running here and there to pick up things (m-i-l doesn’t drive or own a car either), meet up with family, see the friends of our youth (dh was born here, and I went to hs and college here), and just hang out.

My laptop has been my constant companion because I needed to get work done. But it has been unwired work for the most part. Two trips to a nice wired Starbucks (near a Casapulla’s sub shop…oh, why can’t anyone else do subs like DE and Philly?), and I can upload/download my work and go off for a few more unwired days.

I admire my m-i-l’s ability to live a happy life unwired. I’m not sure whether to be ashamed of or okay with the fact that I couldn’t live an internet free life.

Although a few days without…very nice!
